Cross Country Season
PA United's first Cross Country is set to begin
August 30! We will be holding practice sessions twice a week and meets on Saturday Mornings. So no matter your experience level we can support our ambition.
Rec. Cross Country Program:
Our Rec. Cross Country season primary focus is to introduce and teach the sport of Cross Country to our club members. We employ a “couch-to-5K” type approach, beginning with short running intervals and walking recoveries, and gradually increasing our continuous running. We place a strong emphasis on learning good running technique and mechanics. We achieve this by incorporating drills and strength exercises into ever practice. We believe that all of our member athletes have the capability of safely running long distances. Our goal is to encourage all members to work up to a continuous run equal to their age specific race distance and to finish the season by participating in one Cross Country race. (Registration includes the Healthy Kids Running Series @ Charlestown Park & Uniform Top)
Travel Cross Country Program:
Our Cross Country programs focus is on preparing our members for age appropriate competition distances. Practices will consist of long runs, track workouts to develop technique and speed, along with Interval and Tempo workouts. This years competition calendar will include a team schedule, along with additional options for members to consider on their own. The team schedule, which is included in you membership, will be held on Saturday mornings at the famous Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. Athletes who compete in at least four of the meets qualify for the championship meet. (Registration includes Belmont Plateau Race Series & Uniform Top)
